These definitions depend almost completely on one’s internal dictionary. In an objective Websters, the root for one means “to bind,” the root for the other means, “to breathe.”

…and we need both these things, don’t we? Our bodies are bound atoms, and we need to bind our souls to something as well.

I am missing those Wednesday night gatherings with the guys. I am not sure about the difference between religion and spirituality, but many of my students at ULV want to make it clear that they are spiritual but NOT religious. I guess when we talk about religion we imply “formal” religion. I think we tend to associate religion with a structure, as in “place of worship”. Elric

One pundant characterized “religion” as what you hold to avoid Hell and “spirituality” is what you hold after you have been there, but I like what Chuck said, ie. spirituality is the bonding and religion is the binding.

Religion is an affiliation. Spirituality is a feeling/belief.

Vern…Thanks for leading a great meeting and the concern all have shown for me. I liked the GAP acronym: Gratitude…Acceptance…Patience…which you shared. May we all be graced with these. Mark
